Therapy dog

The past 2 months I've been in training. For what you ask? Well, to be a therapy dog. You see I love people ALL people. I've never met a stranger. Mom knew that I would love to meet new people and I would love to cuddle and give all my love to people who needed. Mom also knew I had a few, let's say obstacles, to over come that she needed help with. She found this great class at Positively Canine.  We went every week and it became the highlight of my week! I learned how to deal with being separated and how to great people w/o jumping up. I also learned the best way to great a dog (my hardest obstacle).  We worked and worked and worked on everything!  And finally the time came! Test time that is! I took the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and the TDI (Therapy Dog International) this past Sunday.  I was one of the first dogs that took the test. Mom was a little nervous she saw that I was super excited and didn't know if I could contain myself. I proved her wrong though! I was (mostly) a perfect gentle man! We got the results of the CGC right away and Mom said I passed that with flying colors!  We had to wait a day before we knew the results of the therapy dog, but I wasn't nervous about that. Mom got the news that I had passed the TDI test! So now I am a certified Therapy Dog! I can go places and meet new people and give them love! Mom is looking into a place that needs a therapy dog for children!

So now that you know what I've been working on the last couple of months, I will tell you about today. Today was my first visit as an official therapy dog! I went to visit the nice people of Sterling House! There were a lot of people there to see me! Oh yeah, and Callisto; she is a friend of mine from puppy play days and our moms both lived in the same dorms when they started college. But anyways, back to today. The workers had gathered everyone who wanted to see us and brought them into a room close to the front door. We went in and greeted everyone in there! Mom was a little worried that I would jump up on everyone, but I did my best and only jump a couple of times (when I just couldn't contain myself)! There were two people there that I absolutely loved! They wouldn't stop petting me! I was in heaven! We were there for about 20 minutes but that wasn't enough time! I can't wait to go other places (or back to the same place)!

Christmas Time

I know that I am writing this a little late but better late than never.  This Christmas was a very special one! For the first time in....well...ever, I got to travel with my Mom to her Christmas! Usually when she travels I am left with my aunt and uncle (Kiya and Rowdy) at the vet office (but I more lovingly call it prison). I'm not sure why Mom let me come along this time but I wasn't going to argue.

Now I know I said that the car ride on Thanksgiving was long, but this one was longer.  We left home early in the morning (before I usually get up) and we didn't get to the place until late afternoon.  I was okay with the long trip this time because Mom gave me a bully stick to chew on! (My FAV!) After chewing on the bully stick for awhile I got really tired (and so did Mom) so I fell asleep, car rides always do that to me. Mom had to wake me up after awhile for a bathroom break. I told her that I really didn't need to go but she kept insisting that if i don't go now there will be no more breaks until we get there, so I gave in a went potty.

Once we got there, I was super excited. There were so many people and smells and dogs!  There was a puppy there named Shalee and me and her had a blast. We kept getting yelled at for playing in the house though. They said we were playing to rough but I disagree, they are just wimps, but I liked playing with her outside because even though she was bigger than me, she couldn't catch me when I started to run! So I would just run circles around her until she got dizzy and fell over. There was also and older dog there named Chrissy, she didn't lake to play too much but when we were outside she would play chase with me! I liked her a lot because she wasn't always jumping on me and wanting me to play like Shalee.  I had to get onto Shalee a few times because she didn't understand to leave me alone at bed time.

Mom also gave me part of my Christmas present when we got there to! I got a rawhide Christmas card and a new stuffed monster (these are my favorite toys so Mom always gets one for me when she sees it).

The ride back seemed much longer. Mom said this was because we took a state highway halfway (whatever that means). I say it's because Mom had to make too many stops, but at least this time I was able to get the whole back seat to myself and another bully stick to chew on!
